This 7 Days Uganda Tour takes you for a hike through the Sasa Trail combined with Piswa Trail on Mount Elgon Hike. Mt Elgon is located in the eastern Uganda on the Uganda Kenya border. Elgon offers 4 trekking trails with no special technical climbing experience required and the longest taking 7 days. Everybody can enjoy gorges, ancient caves, waterfalls and spectacular viewpoints. You may vary your hike by ascending from one trailhead and descending to another to ensure that you explore more than just one trail. For travellers who love trekking and fun.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Mount Elgon National Park
Day 2: Hike from Kapkata to Piswa Patrol Hut Camp 11km
Day 3: Piswa Patrol Hut Camp – Hunters Cave Camp 18km
Day 4: Hunters Cave Camp – Mude Cave Camp 11km, side track to Hot Springs Hot Springs 3km.
Day 5: Maude Cave – Wagagai Summit – Mude Cave Camp 18km
Day 6: Mude Cave – Sasa River Camp 5km
Day 7: Sasa River Camp – Budadiri 10,5km
Itinerary
Day 1: In the morning welcome of the travelers at the international airport of Entebbe. Drive to Kampala.
Day 2: After breakfast drive to Sipi Falls at the border with Mt Elgon National Park. Lunch and the lodge and. Dinner and overnight. (Crows nest camp)
Day 3: Early in the morning trekking on Mt Elgon begins. After a short briefing with park rangers and porters, the Piswa trail begins from Kapwata at 2190 m to reach after 11 km Piswa camp at 2850 m above sea level. Dinner and overnight at camp. (Mountain camp)
Day 4: 1020 meters of height difference has to be conquered today with a 16 km walk up to Hunters Cave at 3870 meters. Dinner and overnight at camp. (Mountain camp)
Day 5: The 3rd trekking day is long and has to be started early in the morning. Walk up to the volcano calderas to descend heading to Mude Cave camp at 3500 m. 14 to 19 km has to be hiked today, accordingly to the paths used, and it takes at least 11 hours of trekking. (Mountain camp)
Day 6: On the 4th trekking day ascend to Wagagai peak, the highest of Mt Elgon at 4321 m passing through Jackson lake. It takes 9 hours to cover the 18 km return trail. Dinner and overnight at Mude Cave camp. (Mountain camp)
Day 7: In 5 hours Jackson peak at 4165 m can be conquered! In the afternoon pleasant descend to Sasa River camp at 2900 m in 3 – 4 hours. (Mountain camp)
Day 8: 6th and last day of hike! After breakfast leave the camp to descend from the volcano and reach Budadiri village at 1250 m passing through the Mudange cliff also called “wall of death”. Drive to Crows nest at Sipi Falls. Dinner and overnight. (Crows nest camp)
Day 9: Today we shall do the rock climbing at siipi for a full day with Robs Rolling rock (Crows nest camp)
Day 10: Return to Entebbe and departure.
